It's been sooooooo long since I've done a WUW post. Let's get to it...
What I'm reading
Siege & Storm by Leigh Bardugo, as well as Radiant by Karina Sumner-Smith. I'm also, albeit slowly, working my way through a friend's manuscript (It's slow, but happening, Neely!). I read the Raven Cycle since I've last done a WUW post, and I can't stop raving about it.
What I'm Writing & My Writing Goal
I'm currently working on my 'revision' (it turned into a giant rewrite, so revision really isn't the best definition for it). My goal was to have it done before the end of this month. I've been sick off and on (more on, until this past week), and so I am behind. I'm hoping to have it done within the next two weeks. It's also just taking me longer than planned, but I think it will be worth it.
Once it's done, I'll get back to writing Whatever It Takes 2.
What Works For Me
I'll share a picture at some point. I just redid it the other day, so there isn't much to see. Anyway, I have a GIANT white board. I tend to be a panster when it comes to first drafts, but I follow a structure outline. So, on my board, I do a straight line on the top part, and a line that increases on the bottom. I note where structural things (turning points) should happen (I may not know what these are during the first draft, but I know 'something' should happen at that point). I've used the board a lot during this revision to keep track of events, turning points, when I've needed to rearrange some scenes etc. I'll also be using it to evaluate scenes. Seeing these things on a large scale, and in one setting verse multiple pieces of paper, helps me a lot.
I listened to a revision webinar thing, and that was also really great. There's a few things I'm planning on trying out. I'll share after I give them a shot and see what I find works/doesn't work
Sinus infections, strep throat, respiratory something or other...
That pretty much sums it up. Working to get caught up on the book related things, and getting back into a solid workout routine, and back into a solid training routine.
I did do some website updating recently. I cleaned up the contemporary tags, and updated the series page for Whatever It Takes (I like this one better than the last), as well as updating the Fierce page. I also posted a #FierceFriday on the blog last Friday that looks at some issues Tori, from Fierce, faces being a girl in a fight gym.
Hope everyone has a great week!
