I asked that you go to Twitter and use #NAWL to tell us your NA wishlist. And there are so many great wishlists out there.
I'm so happy to see what everyone wants in the category. My #NAWL overlapped with many others.
There were A LOT of common wishlist themes, including (broadly):
-Speculative fiction
-Multicultural characters
-NA that focused on relationships other than just romance (friends, family etc)
-Relationships already going (versus starting)
-Less focus on the steaminess
-People who don't go to college, and settings other than college
-historical, mysteries, ghost stories
-overseas themes
-gritty, honest
Really, overall, everyone wants:
DIVERSITY: I'm talking on a HUGE scale. Ethnicity, culture, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation etc
There are books out there that meet these wishes. Many of my NA Alley buddies write books that tackle these areas. I know that one of my current projects fits into a few different areas...
The books are out there and I know that as long as we continue to support them, the category will grow.
Thanks for participating in #NAWL and please continue to add to it as you add to your wishlist :)
And, if you're an agent or publisher, check it out. The demand is there.
